Welcome to Guildford West Community Corner

At Guildford West we embrace families as the first educators of children and acknowledge that families continue to influence their children's learning and development during their school years and long afterwards.

Research shows that kids become better learners when parents get involved in their education.  We believe that effective partnerships are based on mutual trust and respect and a shared responsibility for the education of children at our school.

As a parent, you are the most influential factor in how your child views school and the community they're a part of.  Your involvement with their learning goes a long way towards your child becoming a capable, resilient and happy adult.

Taking part in your child's learning takes many forms: Googling information for projects, listening to that speech over and over, breakfast time spelling quizzes, serving at Breakfast Club, helping out with class reading or maths groups, volunteering to go on school excursions, helping in the canteen or Mothers Day stall and the list goes on.

Regardless of the age of your child, never be afraid to ask teachers or staff how you can get involved.

We also offer, throughout the year, a range of parent workshops covering topics such as Reading (Literacy) , Counting (Numeracy), Safety (student safety and wellbeing, cyber safety), Best Start, NAPLAN, Occupational Therapy, Triple P and others.
We encourage parents to attend a workshop of interest, meet new people, and learn a tip or two to assist your child.

As always, parents are welcome and encouraged to attend all special celebrations, assemblies, events and carnivals throughout the year.

If you have any ideas, suggestions or feedback please contact our Community Engagement Officer – Sharon Furness (Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday) or via email
